  1. The closest things to the old -school supers are the asphalt sprints run in Florida. There will be a race at HMP this year.
  2. Like I have always said" these people would complain if they found a $20 bill on the ground that it wasn't a $50." I have seen the sprints in Florida, they are monsters !!
  3. Your right,Nick. Trying to slide something by tech means the crew chief either wasn't paying attention or the shock guy wasn't telling the truth about the rebound reading. Just my opinion....
  4. Thanks for putting these up, bring a lot of smiles !!!
  5. Hey Tommy-o...how've u been?? Haven't seen any new (old) pics from your collection lately. Still hoping to see more!!
  6. Thanks Tommy-o ,been looking forward to new pics!!
  7. Very good story Tommy-o! The memories that hit you are the probably the same ones that your pictures trigger in most of us on here. Keep up the good work !
  8. The cookie-cutter cars is why most people like the modifieds now days. Most of them are built chassis but that is as far as that goes, most are built by guys in small shops, without large back pockets( I said, most not all) they are built using experience and imagination. I wish you had a digital camera back then Tommy-o, maybe you wouldn't have gotten burned out.
  9. I believe the supers went to Mobile,Jackson, and Pensacola after they stopped running here. That is what I heard.Really a shame they died out like they did, I never met anyone that didn't really like watching them.
  10. I remember the year Richards was unbeatable, I wasn't sure of the year.Didn't he beat several out of town hotshoes that came in to try and beat him and Clay Reeves? When the supers stopped running a lot of people lost interest in the races. If you have pics from any of the" liberty bells", they would really be enjoyed, also if there are any from the nascar lms races that were called the "permatex " ( I believe) ,those would be great also. Thanks in advance.
  11. I believe the 44 car was built bt the Harrell bros. not sure where they were from . I saw the 2 cars 44 and 45 on the miss chicken site. Not sure but one of them was destroyed in a shop fire I think. They were sure good lookin cars!
  12. Yes Ritter used to race at Meyer, don't know any details though.
  13. Tommyo, thanks again for all the pics, if you have any pics with more than one car on track during a race doesn't matter if supers or late models, those would be great also. Thanks again!
  14. We all are glad to have you post these pictures, nobody is rushing you... we're just glad that you are here to give us these memories, thanks again!
  15. No, I don't all I remember is 70's maybe 74-75 , it was about the time Fryar was very tough, L schild was driving the #50 chevelle, Cronin the maroon and white 13,everything else is a blur....sorry.
  16. ReTrott or Midget85 do either of you remember a night when Fryar had Dick Trickle drive one of his cars in a double A main? One of them drove the little nova ( chevy II) ,while the other one drove Fryar's I believe chevelle, I think Fryar won the first and Trickle won the second.I can't remember if the night was some sort of special show or not.
  17. I can't remember for sure ,but was one of them Cronin, or Plowman?
  18. See if you can scan the program on to site.
  19. the 21 car is the Wood Bros. modified ,I believe .
  20. Retrott, Smokey built a 15/16 chevelle ,the story I read was that he borrowed the templates from a Nascar official to be sure the car was legal. No one had any idea he would make an entirely different of templates to fit his smaller car . when they put them on they fit perfectly only thing was Smokey had made them.
  21. i can close my eyes and see the cars in pits and the stands filling up , my brother and i disagreeing over who would win that night ,the cars lined up at the pit gate ......,man what memories!!! it's amazing how just a little music can bring them back.
  22. HOLY SMOKE!!!!! man did that bring back memories! keep 'em coming.
