SS99 - it is still being formulated, probably in the range of $2000 to win with a good payout all the way down.
Slysnake - See the ??????? on my first post? That is the Thunder class, I am still trying to decide if the Thunders are going to be involved or not.

[SIZE=7]i think that u arta use all the classes so that everyone is involved i think that leaving out classes of a specal event is not fair to all the classes at all.

Perhaps u could invite the Texas Pro Sedans, and the locals could run with them.
That is, if there are no conflicting dates.

Maybe CC could do something for the Thunder class but the other tracks don't run four cylinders so there probably won't be a need for a "big money" race.

mel does have a good idea on letting the thunder run with the pro sedans if it was possible if not i think they should still run the thunders in that last race though

How about......Thunders, TPS, Allison's......all together to race for 50 laps!
I'll bet 40-50 cars show up for a show like that!
Yessir, that would be cool!

I would have to say in my opinion no to the texas thunder races for that weekend. You guys have had the oppurtunity to race against TPS at each of the TPS races this year. These are special races and the TT would not have a draw from the same areas as the other car classes. If sas and thr had minis then ya but nope. Sorry.

Aug 21 2004, 01:23 PM
Shadykid14,
Top TPS cars run laps at about 1/2 second faster than the top allisons. I don't know what lap times the top thunder cars run. Maybe crew chief 21/73 can lend us a hand. 77, 21, 26, 73 are these the fastest thunders? Please help me out.
Thanks, Mel
I did some research, CC Track Record
Texas Pro Sedans .......... 15.56
Texas Thunders ............. 16.60
Allison's ................... around 16.00 (no official track record)
The allison times were from our last race there.
I also wonder how much The Texas Thunder cars would speed up with the options the TPS allows them to run. I sure would like to see a few of the local Thunders bolt on those Hoosiers and give it a try.
Oh, BTW, Allisons run Goodyear treaded tires. They are very hard and have very little grip, but...they do last for a long time. lol

I would love to bolt those Hoosiers on the Allison cars. Come by and check them Goodyears out the next time we race in CC.
Thanks, Mel

the #21 fastest lap clocked by three people was 16.28 and the 73 was a 16.51 both are fast for running on street tires

No need to worry about hurtin the fiberglass. I believe it would be a good race.... and I'll race em' all clean. I'm sure fun would be had by all!

OK, looking for some comments from the Late Model drivers out there. Race format for the Texas Stock Car Championships, Looking at running 75 laps then taking a mandatory stop, the leader at 75 laps will get 500 or 1000 of the 4000, then resume the race after we role for a mandatory invert for another 75 laps. Winner of the second 75 wins the 3000 or 3500. Looking for critisism, remember this type of format is fan freindly and we are trying to put on a show for the fans.

Have a track-mandated caution flag with 15 laps to go in the final segment. Put lead lap cars to the front for the restart.
Jason
Aug 25 2004, 08:14 PM
Sounds perfect. No tire changes during that stop. Line them up on the front straight and let a crew member come out to make adjustments but no tire changes. I agree with Larry on the competition caution with 15 to go. How about yellows do not count in those 15 to go either or in the last 75 laps?

Hey shadykid414, EJ and Bobby are running low 16's because of the stroker motors they have, if they're soooo fast they should run with the Pro Sedans Series, where
stroker motors are illegal. Plus slicks wont get them much faster than you think it
will, it will also change they're handling.

im thinking at the very least 1000 to winner for the first segment, to eliminate the sand-bagging, and the 2nd half should be a 100 lapper. i would like to see that format possibly ran in the SS race also. btw great idea and it should be a helluva race.

Double A neither one of them cars have stroker motors in them and they dont run low 16s cuz of them its cuz of how the cars handle the 21 is prolly the best handling car out there and the 73's driver can drive the crap out of his car

are the tt going to run in the texas stock car championships
Jason
Aug 26 2004, 09:22 PM
They are not scheduled from what I have seen and I doubt you will see them in this race. The big 3 races are plenty for a night of entertainment at CC. The races don't need to be going on until 2am.

are some people stupid wanting to run the allisons with the tts? the thunders would blow them away not to mention the size diff i mean come on u guys.
Jason
Aug 26 2004, 09:34 PM
And then you have to figure those legacy's are worth 5-6 times more than some of the tt's. lol I wouldnt race against them in a legacy unless i had rubber bumpers like bumpercars.

Aug 27 2004, 10:03 PM
Double A I can tell you right now both 21 and 73 aren"t stroker motors. The 21 car use to have one but we blew it in practice now alls we have is a long rod motor with the same head. I know 73 isnt cause when he broke his cam i went through that motor and it is the same thing we have just different rods. I know the 21 car cause i put it together and there really isnt much good besides the head and rods. stock 2300 crank with manley rods and wiesco pistons. 73 car same stuff just a crower rod and a non roller head. Those cars runn so good cause i make sure every day of the week that there is nothin wrong with them. And running slicks will make a bit of diff. on the et times. Not tryin to talk crap just letting al these people know that theres no strokers in the car. But whos to say about next year maybe a 2850cc will do good. lol

Racer822002,
I thought it might be cool to have a 4 cyl. championship at the same time as the Texas Stock Car Championships at CC Motor Speedway. The Texas Thunder @ CC, Texas Pro Sedans, and the Allisons are the top 3,4cyl. cars on asphalt in Texas. The TPS have been in existance for around 30 years. Heck, they were around before a lot of these racers were even born yet. I kinda understand not wanting to compete against the Allisons, but you CC guys need to look hard at throwing in with the TPS cars on Sept. 4th. You might be pleasently surprised how well you would do.
I myself like the idea of competing with a large field of cars.
You guys in CC have a real good thing going on with the Texas Thunders. Ya'll have a good turnout of cars. The promoters really appreciate the increased car count. Keep up the good work. A large field of cars (like 30 or so) would definitely warrant a larger purse. Think about it.

I watched ya'll the 14th, all you guys are quick. I think ya'll would whoop us good. I think if ya'll and TPS got together it would make for one heck of a show. Imagine the fans going crazy over 30 plus cars taking the green flag...I can.

I know the 4 cyl cars are not invited to the championship races to be held on Oct 29-30 because there are still people who think 4 cyl cars are not "real" race cars. They are the ones who have never raced one. There is ,however , a track who is hosting the biggest purse for 4 cyl cars in Texas U have ever seen.3,000 to win,2,000 for second,1,000 for 3rd,300$ to start.I have run these open competition races and anyone with a good car and healthy grapefruits can possibly win. This is the weekend we are not invited to CC Speedway.I am sure there will be cars from 4 or 5 states.I ran a race in Waco like this and finished 4th.I can help anybody with what changes are needed to run dirt.It doesnt take much. The info is at gatormotorplex.com.This is not a race for "girly men" or sissy boys.I plan to win this one.............THUMPER

Good luck GB, what you say is not true though, the Thunders will be invited to run at CCMS, the purse will be around $600 to win, I have been waiting on a potential sponsor to come through then we would announce, so who knows the purse may yet change. Have fun on the dirt and we wish you the best of luck.

I am happy to hear I was wrong about Thunder Cars being left out at the Big Show in Oct.These guys work very hard all year and deserve to be included even on a local level.I wish CC Manadement would post something on the website even if the purse is unknown.I know many people felt left out including myself.I have always supported 4 cyl racing wherever there was an oppourtunity and I think the Texas Thunder Cars at CC Speedway are as good a class as there is.Three cheers for CC Speedway for including Thunder Cars. To the person who thought that the 21 and 73 cars are "illegal", 21 EJ Gilpin ran the last race here with the Pro Sedans. He finished second and was pushing Donny Moore around the turns and could get under him. He fell in behind Moore in the turns who used the old brake checks in the middle of the turn. The point being, the 21 car was there and gave Moore a run for his money. His car always passes tech after the TT class, so I don't he is cheating in any way and if he is, the whole group that runs up front for that class is "illegal". Great Job EJ and congrats on pretty much locking up the track championships with your latest legal win this past Saturday.
