David Starr to be Grand Marshall at THR on Aug. 21

As announced on The Motorsports Zone radio show today, David Starr – a driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – will be the Grand Marshall at Thunder Hill Raceway (THR) on Saturday, Aug. 21.

Starr, who drives the #75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet and currently sits 12th in the NASCAR CTS points, told The Motorsports Zone co-hosts Chuck Licata and Ric Clark that he’d be able to make a trip to Austin on Aug. 21, the one weekend in August the CTS doesn’t have a race.

Ironically, the Lone Star region of the AllStar Race Truck Series (ARTS) will be running at Thunder Hill Raceway that night, along with the Texas Dwarf Car Association and THR’s local classes – the THR Late Models and Grand Stocks, the A-Line Auto Parts Street Stocks and the Capital City Trade & Technical School Hobby Stocks.

AMSOIL will sponsor David’s appearance at Thunder Hill and will give away several items to THR fans. David Starr merchandise should also be available that night.

“We appreciate AMSOIL – in the persons of David and Carol Bell – and Lisa Stanley in helping to bring David to THR and our fans,” Licata said. “We’re honored that David would take time out of his busy schedule to make the trip to Kyle for our fans. I know David well enough to know the fans who show up that night will get a chance to say ‘Hello’ to David. He’ll probably spend more time talking to the fans than he will watch the races – because he’s just that way.”

The Motorsports Zone is broadcast on KVET-AM 1300 in Austin every Sunday morning from 10-11 a.m. Central Time. Thunder Hill Raceway is a 3/8-mile paved oval race track that runs races every Saturday night from March through October. THR is located off IH-35 at exit 210 (Yarrington Road exit). For more information, please visit THR's web site at www.thunderhillraceway.com or call the track at (512) 736-8230.

Chuck, I hope everyone had a great time! You must KNOW how bad I wanted to be there--Some things came up, or we could have--and WOULD have! I am so depressed tonight that I wasn't there. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif
