The David Glenn Band to headline Friday night Pit Party in Houston

Houston Raceway Park front man, Seth Angel, confirmed today that local music country star David Glenn and the David Glenn Band will headline the Friday night Pit Party at the upcoming NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Texas Sportsman Challenge June 11-13th.

“When our team begin planning this event at the beginning of the year we made it a point to do something unique, something special for our racers making the trip down to Houston,” said Seth Angel, Houston Raceway Park General Manager. “The addition of this Texas size Pit Party and the music of the David Glenn band to our NHRA Texas Sportsman Challenge schedule will make attending this race that much more exciting and memorable for everyone. I’m certain this party will energize our racers and fans and become the start of an annual tradition.”

Friday night’s pit party will commence at the conclusion of all on track racing action around 6:00pm and run until midnight. Racers, crew members, and fans are invited to spend an evening in the newly constructed Tower Club, located adjacent to the three story Dragstrip Tower complex, for a night of live music, dancing, and socializing. The party is free to enter, with a full service cash bar available for adults.

Additionally, a fajita dinner catered by Houston's own Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant can be purchased for $5. Track officials will host a golf cart race to the 60-foot mark along with a practice tree tournament in the Tower Club to round out the evening’s activities.

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Texas Sportsman Challenge will feature hundreds of racers from across the NHRA South Central Division. The competition will race to the quarter-mile at speeds in excess of 260mph in Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Competition Eliminator, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Comp, Super Gas, Stock Eliminator & E.T. Motorcycle.

The weekend schedule will also be filled with exhibition performances by Fran Peppler’s Jet Funny car and the Texas Bandit Chevy S-10 Wheel Stander. An aerial sky dive team will officially kick off pre race ceremonies on Saturday afternoon and open up Round 1 of eliminations.
