ok, texas thunder is going to transponders, does anybody know if the ones they are going use will work at thunderhill?
poorboy
Looks like Texas Thunder will be using Westhold and THR uses AMB.

As stated by poorboy, we use the AMB timing system at Thunderhill Raceway. I don't think it's compatible with the Westhold transponders, but maybe we can run a test at one of the upcoming THR practice sessions, just to find out for sure.

Out of curiosity I emailed Westhold with the question but have not heard back yet. However I have found this same question on other forums and from what I read the systems are NOT compatable. sad.gif

Respons from from Wethold...

Hi Eric,

No. They are not compatible. There is a way to hook up the AMB system and our system so that you can pick up both though. This would require the track to have both one of our decoders and one of AMB's.

Sincerely,
Julian Lin

It's all coming back to me now! LOL

We had considered the Westhold system at THR as part of our big conversion to total electronic scoring last year. We requested and received a quote from Westhold, and the transponders were a bit cheaper.

However, we had lots of transponders already in place for the TSRS cars, Pro Trucks, Pro Modifieds, etc. Even if we had decided to run both types of transponders, it would have taken some time between races to switch decoders, reboot the computer, reset the scoreboard, etc. Fortunately, we got a comparable quote for a bulk purchase of the AMB transponders during the conversion period, and we went 100% AMB.

It is my understanding that Corpus is using the same system as THR

Tom,

You are correct. THR, CCS and HMP are all using the AMB system.
