I worked on a stock car # 21 at Big D Speedway in Grand Prairie from 1961 through 1963 or so and it was driven by Clayton Thomas and owned by R. B. Reese. I guess the stock cars raced on Friday nights and that on Saturday night was modified racing, we were always at Thunderbird Speedway in Crandall on Saturdays. Didn't know they ever had modified racing at Big D either because we were never there on Saturday nights, I'd forgotten they ran or it happened in an alternate universe.........most likely the forgotten choice. Shocking!!!
Sometime in the mix, the place went exclusively to street stocks and was inhabited by the same guys that did figure 8 racing across the road at Sportsdrome Speedway.
The more I think about this, the more it seem's something's fishy about it. Could there have been two Big D Speedways in that period? Just really don't remember modified racing at Big D in Grand Prairie.
