Anyone here besides Bigjohn and me have Nascar Racing 2003 by Papyrus for the PC? There is a bgn mod, cts mod, and a trans-am mod coming out for it with new tracks. I am thinking about maybe starting a Online Series for the trucks on short tracks. Maybe Sunday nights? Broadband only. Anyone interested?

Jason

Here is a screenshot for the new mod. Looks real.
Jason
I am working on two trucks for it. Here is my main TSZ one. smile.gif
Jason
You can get the mods at http://www.projectwildfire.com when they are released.
Here is another.
sfrebel
yeah I play it all the time, way too much probably, I'm going to have a truck series probably next year for money on Monday nights, Sunday nights I already have a money league for cup cars
Josh42
Hey Jason I play 2002 all the time. I have 2003 but I think the computer i have isnt quite fast enough. But for you guys who do have 2003 I saw this on a website and yall can download Joe Aramendia's busch car.
If you go to www.rubbins-racin.com goto car downloads and click on the 2003 icon under busch cars.
Josh42
heres a pic hope this works
Jason
yea I saw that a few days ago. pretty cool.
Jason
With the new patch I kind of am disappointed that they wont have Super Latemodel physics so there wont be an accurate super late model mod if there is one at all. Still going to be cool to run Trucks and TransAm.

Where can I get copies of the templates? I'd like to try my hand at designing a paint scheme for a few cars and have looked but have never come across the templates.
Jason
The truck templates are at projectwildfire.com. I think you can get the best car templates at Team Lightspeed. I am not sure of the URL but type in Team Lightspeed on GOOGLE.
ups88john
i wish they would come out with a slm mod, i have painted several cars, but they just look like cup cars with romco paint scheme. Someone needs to come out with a slm, there was one in the works a while back, but i think it got scrapped.

I run on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday why not on Sunday. It would have to be post cup race though. Keep me posted. Let me know when some of you guys are going to be online and where and maybe we can all hook up and race. Here is my e-mail addy let me know

jnalback@yahoo.com..........give ya the real one in private........don't like to broadcast it sad.gif

There are quite a few snort tracks converted to N2003 showing up, along with some leagues that run short tracks only.

The USA Series is starting a N2003 short track division, and its first race is on Tuesday night. This series is the longest-running series on the internet, and dates back all the way to the original Papyrus sim, NASCAR 1. You can find out more at: http://www.kjsl.com/~jmckin12/usa/ Another series, Dixie Online Motorsports, has a couple of divisions that run N2003 on short tracks. You can find out more about DOM at http://www.chuckchamblee.com/dom/index.shtml Both series have files, schedules, rules, etc. posted on their sites. While I am still on the sidelines with the full-size race car, I have raced with both of these leagues in various divisions and have had a good time.

Another sim short track fans might want to check out is the older NASCAR Heat. While the original sim didn't compare with the Papyrus series, there are 60+ add-ons for the game, from indy cars to DIRT cars and everything in between, the keep it popular today. I have co-authored a few of these add-ons, or "mods" for car models such as Street Stocks, Late Models and Super Late Models. Physics were changed, along with new car models, to try and simulate Saturday night racing. The Super Late Model shown below is a mod we recently finished that contains outlaw-style late models raced in my area. You can find the Super Late and Street Stock mods on my sire, http://www.craigschmidtracing.com You can find other mods and tracks at http://www.simracingconnection.com

I also direct the USA Series NASCAR Heat division that races the Super Late Mod and the Street Stock Mod every other Wednesday night. You can find more info at: http://www.kjsl.com/~jmckin12/usa/

It is interesting, that most of the people involved in these leagues race themselves, or have ties to the sport.

I know you guys were lookin for somethuing with slm template well i found this one today. Its a grandprix but hey its a latemodel.
ups88john
its a cup car made to look like a lm, im talking about a real late model car that actually looks something like a late model.

big john
Josh42
well i just figure that might look alright.
I have question about the trucks does the template download into the game or does it have to go into paint shop pro.

And were can i get the patch to get trucks into the game i went to lightspeed and wildfire but all i see ias templates.

And could one of you guys paint a truck for me
Jason
The trucks are not out yet. You can get the templates but the mod will not be out till after the patch. The templates go to Adobe Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. I used to race Nascar Heat a ton on IRF and Hardcore mode. I left Heat after the physics tools got leaked to the public causing a tons of cheating. That in my opinion was the demise of heat.

Check this out...

The transam mod is gonna be awesome.
ups88john
I could paint a truck for you, i just need a good pic to go off.

big john
ups88john
just did this one real quick
Josh42
well john my 2003 wont run on my computer cause of the graphics. But thanks anyway
Josh42
hey john could you paint a car for me that i can use on 2002
Josh42
hey guys found this image just a minute ago. It's some kind of mod on f1 2002 i'm gonna do more lookin into and find out what i can about it.
justanotherjoe
Paint me a couple too John.........lol. If I had known that you were online and could paint cars I would have had you doin' them for me all along.........BTW this is the 50 car spotter.....hook me up man......I could use some good skins on my new ride. tongue.gif
ups88john
sure thing, im not that good, but what kind of car you want, pm me with details. i can paint them, but cant drive to save my life.

big john
ups88john
tell me what you think.

big john
justanotherjoe
I think it looks pretty good actually.......I have a guy painting me a couple of cars but I like to have some on reserve for pickup races and stuff.
Jason
That mod was done by a guy named Tyler and it was originally going to be for Nascar Thunder 2003. It was never released. I was helping doing the paintjobs as I sent Bigjohn the Bendele car I painted I think. Wouldn't suprise me if it got put into f12k2 instead.
Josh42
I got this from Kevin Hamlin who races up in the north east that the late models were done for nascar thunder and told me who to contact for info on it.
Jason
Yes, Tyler used Kevin's car to do the chevy 3d modeling.
justanotherjoe
Keep me posted on the sunday league thing guys. I would be interested in doing that. It is always fun to race with people that you can actually talk to face to face sometimes rather than just talk across the net.
Jason
You guys think a road racing trans am league would be better?
Bar2248
I love the hoosier stickers, with the goodyear tires. lol
Josh42
hey bradley on the game i have hoosier wide fives downloaded so it doesnt look weird.
It would be nice if someone could make downloadable track of thunderhill, sas, houston, corpus
Jason
There are a TON of short tracks available on the net. Project Wildfire will also be releasing new tracks.
Josh42
yeah ive downloaded jennerstown, berlin, new smyrna, golden sands (which is real fast if you have the right setup, qualified at 12.68 its a high banked track a little over 1/4). But i think it would be fun to race on something around here plus its a good way to keep your self goin during the winter. Thank about it have an online series like romco, and if someone could make all the tracks around here run on those just like the real cars do.
If anyone else knows where i can get short tracks for 2002 let me know, those are more fun than the big tracks
racerboy2002
tell guys is there a certian program u have to buy or is straight from the computer, i have heard about this but never looked into but it looks fun.
jont66
HEY BIG JOHN, CAN YOU MAKE A CAR OR TRUCK THAT LOOKS LIKE MINE? CHECK MY WEBSITE FOR PICS. ALSO I DIDN'T READ ALL THE POSTS, BUT ARE WE GOING TO START A LEAGUE, OR A TIME FOR EVERYONE TO RACE EACH OTHER?
Jason
Golden Sands is fun. I cheated an added a little bit of grip to it so my lap times are a little faster. If you play online EVERYONE has the same grip level as the host.
justanotherjoe
Who is going to provide the server? What track are we going to run? Do you want to arrange a car file swap? Sounds like some of you are way beyond me in skill level but I would still like to give it a try. Open setups I assume?
Jason
Probably open setups. We can find a server. If something is put together we will make a schedule for what tracks. Car/truck swap will be put together also if it happens.

Here is a truck I just painted. I am too lazy to get the right contengency decals to make it an OFFICIAL ARTS Truck so it is a CTS truck painted like Jon T Garrett's. I had trouble finding the font used on the numbers so I had to do some copying pasting and editing.

HoosierDaddy
How about starting a dirt track league on here using the original Dirt Track Racing latemodels. There are tons of tracks and cars available on the net, and you dont have to have a superfast computer to run that game. The quarter miles for DTR are really fun to run on.
Jason
People cheat like CRAZY in DTR online. Plus the game is not stable enough online to really make a league. I have the cd somewhere around here. Its fun especially at the 1/4 mile Manzinita.
krusty_rusty
how much space does this game take up on your computer, because i want to buy the damn thing now that i hear ya'll talkin about it. Anything to keep me from doing schoolwork
Jason
Prob about 1 gig with all the tracks and stuff you can addon. To run it though you will need a good PC. What are your PC's specs?
LaFont Racing #3
I would concider racing a short track league Jason, sounds like fun!
Driver4Hire
Let's race...
krusty_rusty
probably not good enough, but ill check it out, because those are some sweet ass cars.
Jason
That looks cool. If we do a short track league it will probably be with the CTS mod from Project Wildfire. If you would like paint a truck you can get the templates from http://www.projectwildfire.com in PSD (Photoshop) or PSP (Paint Shop Pro) form. If you want to learn how to paint and dont have either program you can get a PSP trial at I think http://www.jasc.com. I can't really give support on PSP because I use Photoshop.
